DESCRIPTION:
Spanish 2 reinforces the skills learned in Spanish 1 and emphasizes more advanced communicative proficiency. This year-long course counts as one year of high school Spanish 2. At the end of Spanish 2, students will be able to communicate in both the present and past tenses. The course emphasizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students attempt to communicate primarily in Spanish during class. The instructor’s goal is for students to learn Spanish well enough to communicate effectively and appreciate Spanish language and culture for life-long use and enjoyment. Students gain knowledge and understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures throughout the year. The course includes a mid-term and final exam.
The typical minimum college language requirement is two consecutive years of a single foreign language. Many selective colleges require three to four years of a foreign language.
