Algebra 2

DESCRIPTION:

Algebra II will provide the student with a college-prep level course, allowing them to easily progress onto even more difficult mathematical challenges. Statistics and applications for other subjects such as physics and chemistry are included. Real-world applications along with continual practice and review provide the time needed to master each concept and help students build confidence in their mathematical abilities.

Topics covered include the following: number sense and foundations of algebra, linear functions, matrices, polynomials and polynomial functions, rational and radical functions, linear systems, probability and statistics, quadratic functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, sequences and series.

Please note that a graphing calculator is necessary for this class.  Please see the suggested calculator listed with the materials and text.

PREREQUISITES: 

Algebra I

Students who have not taken a math class at HARC before must take a placement test. Please download this Readiness for Algebra 2.  Print the placement test. Have the student take the test to the best of his/her ability without help for accurate placement. MATERIALS AND TEXT:

  • We will be using Gina Wilson’s Algebra 2 Curriculum/All Things Algebra. It is very structured and boxed out for organization. Each lesson includes guided notes and homework. You will be able to purchase a binder that includes the curriculum from the teacher.
  • Graphing calculator (Suggested calculator: Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus or TI-84)
