Homeschool Graduation

Colonial Homeschoolers and H.A.R.C. are pleased to announce a special Graduation Ceremony for 2012 graduates on Saturday, May 12 from 2:30 – 4;30pm. The day will begin with a special Senior Breakfast at 9:30 AM. The Graduation Ceremony will begin at 2:30PM. (Rehearsal is May 11 at 1:30PM. At least one parent must attend rehearsal.) Lamplighter Guild Summer Program

This summer, from July 15th-20th, Lamplighter Ministries plans to host its second Lamplighter Guild for Creative Disciplines, a catalyst for collaboration, innovation, and compelling instruction between master teachers and apprentices. Students will choose to study either Dramatic or Visual Arts during this time, and each student will be challenged to cultivate a high level of excellence in order to uniquely reflect the image of God in his work and life. This event will be hosted at the world-renowned Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz, NY.

Dramatic Arts students will learn script writing, sound design, music composition, directing, producing, and voice acting from the creative minds and talents behind acclaimed radio theatre productions such as Adventures in OdysseyChronicles of NarniaLes Miserables, andLeft Behind.

Visual Arts students will interact with Mohonk’s spectacular mountaintop in an unforgettable week of visual exploration and creative expression through plein air oil painting.

Science Made Fun In-School Field Trip

For grades K-5: A High Touch-High Tech Science Made Fun will be doing an In-School Field Trip at Colonial! High Touch – High Tech programs incorporate hands-on activities that relate directly to a particular scientific concept. Every child participates in experiments that help bring that concept “to life”. You can learn more about the presenters at their WEBSITE

The program their Scientists will be presenting that day is SCIENTIFICALLY SCIENCE©. Join us on a wacky adventure through all kinds of cool and crazy chemical reactions. Make slippery slime and keep your own crazy concoction! Watch out for the exciting “Xploda-Soda”! All programs are geared for the K-5th grade student. Upon completion of the field trip, students receive a cool science certificate and ALL programs provide create-and-keep experiments.

Potters Clay is Accepting Applications

One of our co-ops, Potter’s Clay Homeschool Co-op, is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year through March 1, at 5 p.m.  We meet on Fridays at Colonial and offer classes in Writing/Grammar, Science, & History.  We invite you to go to our website at www.pottersclayofcary.weebly.com or the Potter’s Clay link on the Colonial Homeschoolers website for more information about our group and the classes we offer.
