Moms Mentoring Fellowship

All Colonial Homeschooling moms may now sign up for small group monthly fellowships led by experienced homeschool moms. The purpose of these groups is to encourage relationships between experienced homeschool moms who are following the Lord in their families with those who are behind them on the journey. We aim to have substantive discussions based on Biblical foundations on topics particular to homeschooling and the family. We hope to foster relationships that honor the Lord, encourage other moms to faithfully follow the Lord through His Word, and be a joy and delight.

Middle School Spanish gives your student an opportunity to be exposed to Spanish conversation, vocabulary and bits of easy grammar concepts through hands-on activities and games while learning. They will learn a specialized format to be able to speak sentences on the very first day! Kinesthetic learning will increase the student’s understanding and thus encourage him/her to excel. Cost: $8 per student per class. One hour classes held once a week – approx 26 weeks.

Spanish 1 is for 9-12th graders who need a foreign language for high school credit. There will be at least 3 days of homework each week. The class consists of mostly grammar and vocabulary lessons with some conversation using Abeka curriculum. It covers both present and past tenses, and includes adjectives, articles, conjunctions, adverbs, object pronouns and other basic grammar. New concepts will be introduced in small doses, building upon what has already been learned.

Spanish 2 is open to those completing Spanish 1, or for those who can pass the review test if student has not previously enrolled in Spanish 1 using Abeka curriculum. There will be at least 3 days of homework each week. Spanish 2 continues to add more verb tenses and helps the student build more complex sentence structures to their Spanish abilities. Speaking, hearing, reading and writing in Spanish are encouraged throughout the year.

Spanish 3 is open to those completing any Spanish 2 curriculum. It will involve more conversation, reading, writing and speaking of Spanish grammar and vocabulary learned from previous years. In class, we will be using the Destinos Videos and Workbook (used at Wake Tech) to encourage hearing and understanding of native speakers, along with special guests to interview in person. Using the official study guide, students will also be prepared to take the Spanish CLEP test given by the College Board for college credit.

Cost: High School classes: $360 per student for the year (easy payments available; sibling discount available). Students will purchase their own books. A detailed list of class materials will be sent upon registering. Classes are once-a-week for 1.5 hours, mid-August through mid-May. Limited classes are available each year and are usually small in size. You are encouraged to register early in summer. See classes already scheduled for this year below.
